Det Kongelige Bibliotek

The Royal Library stunningly merges two entirely different architectural forms. The courtyard of the 19th-century Neo-Classical building has been transformed into a garden and contains a statue of the Danish philosopher and theologian Søren Kierkegaard. Next to that is the ultra-modern Black Diamond, linked by a passage to its historic predecessor. It was built as part of the effort to reconnect Danes with their harbour in the post-industrial age. The collection includes medieval manuscripts and the Søren Kierkegaard Archive.
